Fitness and Scuba Diving
Welsh Diving is committed to scuba diving as a sport. Therefore we are working to develop information on the fitness aspects of scuba diving. We intend providing regular features and are currently planning to introduce fitness schedules for you to try.
SCUBAFIT® DIVER course
The ultimate physical fitness recommendation for scuba divers is to be in excellent health; free from disease, medical conditions and injury. It is important for divers to know how to become and remain physically fit, prevent illness and injury, and rehabilitate and manage conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, and obesity.
The ScubaFit® Diver course provides an introductory program for scuba divers new to fitness and provides additional fitness modules to encourage continued understanding and improvements, and to accommodate divers who are already fitness enthusiasts, athletes or rehabilitating injuries. Exercise applications specific to diving range from foundational to elite performance with new workouts presented in each module.
The course comprises theory and practical sessions, and will enable participants to:
- Understand the purpose and benefits of physical fitness for diving
- Develop fitness, training and nutritional plans relevant to scuba diving
WELSH DIVING is committed to promoting fitness amongst divers through delivery of the ScubaFit® Diver course.
The normal price for the ScubaFit® Diver course is £145. However to reflect Welsh Diving’s commitment to fitness and diving participants will receive diving vouchers worth £100.
The first would be a £45 discount off the Advanced Open Water course (or selected adventure dive/ speciality course e.g. Underwater Navigation) . The second a £55 discount off the Rescue Diver course.
As an illustration, this would mean the Advanced Open Water course would be discounted from £250 to £205 and the Rescue Diver course discounted from £295 to £240.
